Cooktop parts are model specific. A burner crown from one Smeg model will not necessarily fit another. Match your model number before ordering. Send us a photo of the old part and your cooktop model number if you are not sure.

How to find the right cooktop burner part

Burner crowns, bases, and trivets vary by brand and model. The size, number of flame ports, and fitting style all differ across cooktop ranges. Using the wrong part affects burner performance and can be a safety issue.

Before you order, check three things:

Your cooktop model number. It is on a sticker on the underside of the cooktop, on the front edge, or inside the drawer below the cooktop if it is a freestanding stove. Write it down in full.

The burner size. Cooktops usually have small, medium, and large burners and the crowns for each are different sizes. Note which burner position the part came from before removing it.

The product listing. Every listing states which cooktop models it fits. Match your model number and burner size to the listing before adding to cart.

Send us a photo of the old part alongside your cooktop model number. We will confirm the right replacement before you spend anything.

Signs your cooktop burner parts need replacing

Watch for these before the burner stops working:

  • The burner crown is cracked, chipped, or warped from heat or impact

  • The trivet is bent, cracked, or wobbling when a pot is placed on it

  • The burner base has rust or damage where the gas ports sit

  • The burner is not igniting even though the igniter is clicking

A damaged burner crown causes uneven flames which affects cooking performance and gas efficiency. A cracked crown should be replaced before using the burner again.

Fitting cooktop burner parts

Burner bases are slightly more involved as they connect to the gas supply. If the base itself needs replacing, have a registered gas fitter look at it. The gas connection must not be disturbed without a qualified person.

Safety Note

Turn off the gas at the cooktop before removing any burner parts. The gas supply to the burner base must only be disconnected by a registered gas fitter.

How do I know which burner crown fits my cooktop?

Check the model number on the underside of the cooktop and match it to the product listing. Also note which burner position the crown came from as small, medium, and large burners use different sized crowns.

My gas burner has a yellow flame. Is the crown the problem?

Often yes. A dirty or damaged crown causes uneven gas distribution which turns the flame yellow. Clean the crown first. If cleaning does not fix it and the crown is damaged, replace it.

Can I replace a cooktop trivet myself?

Yes. Trivets lift straight off and the replacement sits back in the same position. No tools or gas connections involved.

The burner won't ignite even though I can hear clicking. What should I check?

Check that the crown is seated correctly and the igniter tip is clean and dry. A misaligned crown or moisture on the igniter are the most common causes. If those are fine and the burner still won't light, the igniter itself may need replacing.

Do I need a gas fitter to replace cooktop burner parts?

For crowns and trivets, no. These sit on top of the burner and have no gas connection. For the burner base itself which connects to the gas supply, yes. A registered gas fitter must handle that.
