Fridge Control Boards

Replacement control boards and PCBs for fridges and freezers. Main boards, display boards, and inverter boards for Fisher & Paykel, Samsung, LG, Bosch, and other brands. Parts dispatched from our Palmerston North warehouse.

Fridge control boards are model specific. The board must match your exact fridge model. Send us a photo of the old board showing any part numbers printed on it along with your fridge model number before ordering. This is the most reliable way to get the right match.

How to find the right fridge control board

Fridge control boards vary significantly across brands and models. A board from one Fisher & Paykel model will not work in another even within the same range. The part number on the board itself is the most reliable identifier.

Before you order, check three things:

Your fridge model number. It is on a sticker inside the fridge on the left wall near the top. Write it down in full including any letters at the end.

The part number on the old board. If you can access the board safely, photograph it and look for any codes printed directly on the PCB. These codes are the most accurate way to find a compatible replacement.

The fault diagnosis. A control board is one of the most expensive fridge parts. Before ordering, have a sparky confirm the board is the actual fault. A blown capacitor or a faulty thermistor can mimic control board failure and cost far less to fix.

Send us a photo of the old board and your fridge model number. We will confirm availability and whether the board is the right call before you commit to anything.

Signs your fridge control board may need replacing

These symptoms can point to the control board but always rule out simpler faults first:

  • The fridge will not power on and the power supply has been ruled out

  • The display is blank or showing error codes that do not clear after a reset

  • The fridge runs constantly or not at all and the thermostat and thermistor have been checked

  • The compressor or fan motor does not receive a signal to start

  • A sparky has tested the board and confirmed it is faulty

Before ordering a control board, check the fridge fan and the defrost element. Both can cause symptoms that look like a board fault and both are much cheaper to replace. A control board should be the last thing ordered, not the first.

Fitting a fridge control board

Fridge control boards are electrical components. The board connects to the compressor, fan motors, display, thermistors, and defrost circuit. Getting any connection wrong can damage the new board or create a safety issue.

Safety Note

Fridge control boards are mains-connected electrical components. Always unplug the fridge before accessing any internal electrical part. Control board replacement must be carried out by a sparky.

Fridge control board FAQ

How do I know if my fridge control board has failed?

Have a sparky test it. Error codes that won't clear, a fridge that won't start, or a compressor that never receives a signal are common signs. But thermistors, fan motors, and defrost elements can produce identical symptoms and cost far less to replace. Confirm the diagnosis before ordering a board.

Do I need a sparky to replace a fridge control board?

Yes. Control boards connect to multiple mains-voltage circuits inside the fridge. They must be replaced by a sparky.

What is the difference between a main control board and a display board?

The main control board manages the compressor, fans, and defrost cycle. The display board controls the panel buttons and temperature readout. They are different parts. Know which one has failed before ordering.

Can I get a fridge control board for an older model?

Sometimes yes. Availability depends on the brand and model. Email us your model number and the part number from the old board and we will check what is in stock or can be sourced.

Is it worth replacing a fridge control board or buying a new fridge?

Depends on the age and value of the fridge. A control board on a quality fridge under 8 years old is usually worth replacing. On a budget fridge or one approaching end of life, the board cost may not be justified. Your sparky can help you make that call.
