Kettle Filters
Replacement filters for Russell Hobbs, Breville, Brabantia, Delonghi, and Kenwood kettles. Mesh spout filters and cartridge filters for a range of kettle models. Most orders go out same day from our Palmerston North warehouse.
Kettle filters are model specific. Check your kettle model before ordering. Send us a photo of your existing filter and your kettle model number and we'll confirm the right replacement.
How to find the right kettle filter
Kettle filters come in two types. Mesh spout filters sit in the spout and catch limescale flakes. Cartridge filters sit inside the kettle and filter the water as it pours. The two types are not interchangeable and not all kettles use the same size or shape.
Before you order, check three things:
Your kettle model number. It is usually on a sticker on the base of the kettle. Write it down exactly. A Russell Hobbs RHK92 filter will not fit an RHK62 even though they are both Russell Hobbs kettles.
The type of filter. Look at your current filter. If it is a fine mesh that sits in the spout, you need a mesh filter. If it is a small cartridge inside the body, you need a cartridge filter.
The product listing. Every listing states which kettle models it fits. Match your model number to that list before adding to cart.
Send us a photo of your old filter along with your kettle model number. We'll confirm the fit before you spend anything.
Signs your kettle filter needs replacing
Watch for these before the filter stops working entirely:
- The water pours slowly or the flow is noticeably reduced
- White flakes or particles are visible in poured water
- The mesh is torn, clogged, or has developed holes
- The water has taken on a flat or stale taste
-
The filter has not been replaced in over 6 months
A clogged or torn filter defeats the whole point of having one. Limescale flakes get into your cup and into the element, which shortens the kettle's life.
Fitting a kettle filter
Most people have the filter replaced in under a minute. Open the kettle lid, remove the old filter from the spout or the body, and push the new one in the same way. No tools needed.
The Russell Hobbs RHK92 mesh filter pulls out of the spout and the replacement pushes back in. The Breville BKE420 spout filter works the same way.
Run the kettle through one full boil and discard the water before using the filter for drinking. This clears any manufacturing residue from the new filter.
Safety Note
Unplug the kettle and allow it to cool completely before removing or fitting a filter.

Kettle filters FAQ
How do I know if my kettle uses a mesh filter or a cartridge filter?
A mesh filter sits in the spout and is a small cone or cylinder of fine mesh. A cartridge filter sits inside the kettle body. Send us a photo with the lid open if you're not sure.
How often should I replace a kettle filter?
Every 2 to 3 months with regular use, or sooner if you notice particles or reduced flow. Mesh filters can be rinsed a few times but replace them once the mesh is torn or clogged.
My kettle filter is not listed here. Can you get it?
Possibly. Email us (steve@appliancespares.nz) your kettle brand and model number and we'll check what's available. Kettle filters for older or less common models are not always in stock but we can often source them.
I live in an area with hard water. Will a kettle filter help?
Yes. A kettle filter catches limescale flakes before they reach your cup. It won't stop buildup on the element but it makes a real difference to water quality. Replace more often if you have hard water.
Can I get kettle filters for my brand at a local shop in NZ?
For Russell Hobbs and Breville, sometimes. For less common brands or specific models, usually not. We stock a wide range and ship NZ wide.
