Many NZ laundries have only a single cold water outlet, but most front-load and many top-load washing machines require both hot and cold inlet hoses to be connected. This is a universal Y-connector (also called a 2-in-1 adaptor or double adaptor), part code C00009416, that lets you connect both washing machine inlet hoses to a single cold water tap. Particularly useful when your laundry plumbing has only one water outlet point but the machine expects two -- this prevents the machine throwing fill faults or backflow issues from having one hose unconnected.

Compatibility

How to Use and Installation Notes

• Turn off the water supply at the tap before starting any work.
• If hoses are already connected to the tap, unscrew them carefully.
• Attach the single threaded outlet of the Y-connector to your water tap and hand-tighten firmly. Do not over-tighten -- finger-tight plus a quarter-turn with adjustable pliers is usually sufficient.
• Connect each of the two washing machine inlet hoses (hot and cold from the machine, or two separate machines) to the two outlets of the Y-connector. Ensure each hose has its rubber washer in place.
• Hand-tighten the hose nuts, then add a small additional turn with pliers if needed.
• Slowly turn the water supply back on -- start with a quarter-turn and check carefully for leaks at all connection points before opening fully.
• If any connection drips, turn off the water, disconnect, check the rubber washer is seated correctly, and re-tighten.
• Run a short test wash to confirm normal water fill operation.
