Description
Coffee leaking around the group head or pressure dropping during extraction? The brew head seal needs replacing.
Part EM69116 is the aftermarket replacement brew head group seal for compatible Sunbeam Cafe Series espresso machines.
When the seal hardens, steam and water escape around the portafilter instead of flowing through the coffee grounds.

The brew head seal sits recessed inside the group head. When you lock the portafilter in, the seal compresses to create a sealed chamber for pressurised water to push through the coffee.
Over time the rubber hardens from heat and steam cycles. A hardened seal no longer compresses correctly, steam escapes sideways.
You'll notice weak espresso with little crema, hissing from around the portafilter, and sometimes a spray of hot water.
Important: Brewhead leaks can also be caused by a worn portafilter collar rather than the seal itself. If leaks persist after fitting this new seal, take the machine to your nearest Sunbeam service agent for a collar inspection.
We also recommend descaling the machine at the same time as replacing the seal, this is the easiest moment in the maintenance cycle to do it.
