Description
When the large hotplate on a Westinghouse or Simpson 3U or 4U series stove takes forever to come up to heat, or never gets hot at all, the radiant element underneath has usually failed. These plug in coil elements are wear parts that drop off over the years through thermal cycling, especially under heavy cookware.
This is the genuine new replacement Westinghouse and Simpson large 8 inch (200mm) plug in radiant hotplate element, part codes A10108801 and 0122004592, rated at 2050W. It fits Simpson 3U series stoves and Westinghouse stoves with 4U or WL at the start of the model number, including the popular Mercury, Colombo, Saturn, Neptune, Gemini, and Cosmos ranges.

Compatibility
This element is verified compatible with Simpson 3U series stoves (Mercury, Colombo, Saturn, Neptune, Cosmos) and Westinghouse stoves with 4U or WL at the start of the model number (Mercury, Colombo, Saturn, Neptune, Gemini). Specific model codes listed on the live product page include PAK804W and the 4U600W through 4U604W production runs in their *01, *32, *39, *40, *58, and *60 variants, named as Mercury, Columbo, Neptune, Saturn, and Gemini. The verified models list appears in the table at the end of this description. These are push in elements, so check that the existing element terminals match the plug in style before ordering. Always cross check the part code on the back of the failed element with A10108801 or 0122004592, since several visually similar 8 inch elements with different wattages exist across the Electrolux Group range.
How to Use and Installation Notes
- Switch off the stove at the wall isolator and confirm the hotplate is fully cool.
- Lift the hob top per the user manual to expose the element terminal block beneath each hotplate.
- Identify the failed element and lift its drip bowl out of the cradle.
- Pull the element gently up and out of its socket. These are plug in elements, so the terminals should release with firm vertical pressure, no tools required.
- Wipe out the drip bowl and the socket area with a slightly damp cloth, removing any spilled food residue.
- Align the new A10108801 element with the matching socket terminals and push it firmly home until it seats flat.
- Refit the drip bowl in the cradle with the cut out facing the element terminals, then lower the hob top.
- Restore power, turn the hotplate to high for 2 to 3 minutes, and watch the coil come up to a clean red glow. A faint smoke or smell from the new element on first use is normal and clears quickly.
