Blender blades are model specific. The blade from one Breville jug will not fit another, even if the jugs look the same. Match your model number before you order.

How to find the right blender blade

Blades vary by brand, model, and jug size. A blade that looks identical can have a different shaft diameter, different number of prongs, or a different coupling style that makes it incompatible with your machine.

Before you order, check three things:

Your model number. It is on a sticker on the base of the blender or the motor unit. For stick blenders it is usually on the handle. Write it down in full.

The blade you are replacing. Keep the old blade if you can. Count the number of prongs and note whether the blade assembly includes the rubber seal or not. Some blades come as a complete assembly, some are blade only.

The product listing. Every listing states which blender models it fits. Match your model number to the list before adding to cart.

Signs your blender blade needs replacing

Watch for these before the blade stops working altogether:

  • Blending is uneven, with chunks left no matter how long you run it

  • A scraping or grinding sound when the blade is running

  • The blade feels noticeably blunt when you run a finger along it

  • The blade is visibly chipped, bent, or has a nick on one edge

  • The blade spins but nothing is moving in the jug


A damaged blade puts extra strain on the motor. A blunt blade left too long can burn out the motor on a cheaper blender. Replacing the blade is always cheaper than replacing the machine.

Fitting a replacement blender blade

Most people have their blender sorted in a couple of minutes. The blade assembly unscrews from the base of the jug turn it anticlockwise to remove it. The replacement threads on the same way. Make sure the rubber seal is seated properly before you reattach the jug to the motor base.

Safety Note

Unplug the blender before removing or fitting any blade. Blender blades are sharp even when blunt handle with care and keep away from children.

How do I know if I need a new blade or a new seal?

If the blade looks fine but the jug is leaking from the base, it is usually the seal. If blending performance has dropped or you can see visible damage on the blade itself, replace the blade. If your blade assembly includes the seal as one unit, replacing the blade fixes both.

Can I sharpen a blender blade instead of replacing it?

You can but it is rarely worth it. Blender blades are designed to a specific geometry and sharpening changes that. A replacement blade is inexpensive and will outperform a sharpened old one.

My blender blade fits but still leaks at the base. What do I check?

Check the rubber seal between the blade assembly and the jug. If it is cracked, perished, or not seated evenly, it will leak even with a new blade. A replacement seal from our blender seals collection is usually the fix.

Blender blade parts are hard to find locally. Can you get them?

Yes. Blender blade parts are not widely stocked in NZ shops. We stock a range for common brands and ship NZ wide from Palmerston North. If your part is not listed, email us your model and we will check what's available.

Will I have to wait long for a blender blade to arrive?

Most blades we hold in stock ship same day. If your model needs a part we have to source, we'll tell you the lead time before you order.
