Fisher & Paykel Temperature, Rotor & Water Pressure Sensors

Fisher & Paykel Temperature, Rotor And Water Pressure Sensors NZ

Replacement sensors for Fisher & Paykel washing machines, dishwashers, fridges, and dryers. This collection has temperature sensors (thermistors), rotor position sensors, water pressure sensors, and water level switches. Oven playing up? Try the oven temperature sensor. Fridge not cooling properly? The fridge thermistor kit fixes most cooling faults. Browse below or send us your model number.

About Fisher & Paykel Sensors

Modern appliances are packed with sensors that feed the control board information. A thermistor tells the oven how hot the cavity is, or the fridge how cold the compartment is. A water level sensor tells the washing machine how much water's in the tub. A rotor position sensor tells the motor control board exactly where the drum is, so the machine can spin and stop accurately.

When a sensor fails, the control board either gets bad data or no data at all. The appliance reacts differently. Error code. Refusal to start. A cycle that won't finish. Weird temperatures. Most of the time, the fix is replacing the sensor, not the whole control board. For dryers, the dryer temperature sensor controls cycle timing on auto-sensing models. For dishwashers, the dishwasher temperature sensor tells the machine when the water's hot enough to start washing.

Fitting a sensor is usually a plug-and-play job. Unplug the appliance, find the sensor, disconnect the wire, unscrew the old one, fit the new one, reconnect. The hard part is working out which sensor has failed, not fitting the replacement.

Signs You Need a New Fisher & Paykel Sensor

  • Washing machine won't fill, drain, or stops mid-cycle. Faulty water level pressure sensor. The machine can't tell how much water's in the tub, and their's nothing it can do until you fix that.

  • Washing machine error code for motor or spin. Failed rotor position sensor. The motor control can't read drum position.

  • Oven not reaching set temperature or running too hot. Failed oven temperature sensor. Easy check with a multimeter.

  • Fridge not cooling right or running non-stop. Failed fridge thermistor. Common fault on SmartDrive fridges.

  • Dryer cycles end early or clothes come out wet. Failed moisture or temperature sensor telling the dryer clothes are dry when they aren't.

  • Dishwasher won't heat the water. Failed water temperature sensor. The machine needs to know water temp before it can start the wash cycle.

  • Error code at start-up. Often a sensor fault. Look the code up in the manual to narrow it down.

How to Find the Right Fisher & Paykel Sensor

F&P sensors are specific the appliance they fit. A fridge thermistor isn't the same as an oven temperature sensor, even if they look similar. The right one starts with your model number.

The model sticker is in the usual F&P spots. Inside the door frame, on the back of the unit, or on a side panel. F&P model numbers use different prefixes for different appliances. WH and WA for washing machines. DD for DishDrawers. DW for full-size dishwashers. OB for ovens. E for fridges. Something like WH7560P3 or E402BRXFD5.

Got a pyrolytic wall oven? The pyrolytic oven sensor is a different part from the standard oven sensor, match it to your model. For anything else, check the F&P parts collection for the appliance type, or send us the model and error code. Codes narrow things down a lot faster than guessing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I test a thermistor with a multimeter?

A: Set the multimeter to resistance (ohms). Disconnect the thermistor from the control board and measure across its two terminals. Compare the reading to the spec in the service manual, typically a few kΩ at room temperature. Open-circuit means the thermistor is dead.

What is a rotor position sensor and when does it fail?

The rotor position sensor sits behind the motor and tells the control board where the drum is. It fails from heat, moisture, or a knock during service. Common fault on F&P SmartDrive washers, the machine won't spin or throws a motor error code.

My F&P washing machine isn't filling properly. Is it the sensor?

Could be. The water level pressure sensor tells the machine when the tub is full. If the sensor or its tube is blocked or cracked, the machine either won't stop filling or won't start. Check the tube first, then replace the sensor.

Can I fit a sensor myself or do I need a tech?

Most sensors are plug-and-play once you know which one. Diagnosis is the hard part, not fitting. If you're comfortable unplugging the appliance and pulling a panel off, you can do it.

How long do appliance sensors last?

A decade or more under normal use. Sensors fail from heat cycling, vibration, or water getting in, rather than hours of use. If one fails early, check for a leak or vibration issue that might be stressing the new one too.
