This is the in-line filter that connects via 1/4-inch (6mm) external tubing between the household water supply and the fridge's water inlet. It is NSF tested and certified, with a 1,892-litre or 6-month service life, and reduces chlorine, sediment, rust, particulates, and unpleasant tastes and odours.

Important note: ADQ73693901 has now been superseded by ADQ73693903, which uses push-fit connectors instead of the older threaded screw and nut connection. If your existing filter uses the threaded style, you can either order the original style or simply cut the tube ends cleanly and push them into the new push-fit fittings on the ADQ73693903 -- both fitting methods are compatible with 1/4-inch external tubing. Because this is an external in-line filter using a universal tubing size, it can also be used as a compatible replacement on other brand fridges using 1/4-inch tubing, including some Samsung, Bosch, Beko, and Daewoo models.

Compatibility

This filter is compatible with a wide range of LG side-by-side and French-door fridges in the GR, GC, and GW series, including GR-D257SL, GR-L197NIS, GR-P247MSZ, and many others. Because it is an external in-line filter using 1/4-inch tubing, it can also be installed on other fridges using the same tubing size as a compatible replacement. How to Use and Installation Notes

• Locate the existing in-line filter behind the fridge or under the sink, depending on your installation.
• Turn off the water supply to the fridge.
• Open a tap or the fridge water dispenser briefly to release line pressure.
• For threaded-style ADQ73693901: unscrew the inlet and outlet nuts from each end of the old filter and remove it from the line.
• For push-fit ADQ73693903: press the collet ring on each end inwards and pull the tube out to release.
• Install the new filter, paying attention to the flow direction arrow printed on the body -- water should flow in the direction the arrow points.
• Connect the tubes to the new filter (screw-fit or push-fit as required).
• Turn the water supply back on and check for leaks at both connections.
• Run approximately 8 litres of water through the dispenser to flush the new filter before drinking.
• Replace every 6 months or every 1,892 litres, whichever comes first.
