About Parmco Dryer Parts

Parmco dryers run on the same basic platform as a lot of mid-range vented dryers. A motor spins the drum with a rubber drive belt. The drum rotates on bearings or bushes. A capacitor helps the motor start under load. An element heats the incoming air. A thermostat cuts power if things get too hot. A lint filter catches the fluff, and a thermal fuse sits there as a backup if anything goes seriously wrong. Some Parmco models share parts with Electrolux group parts like Simpson and Westinghouse, so worth checking both collections.

Most Parmco faults are wear and tear. Belt stretches and cracks. Lint filter gets bent out of shape. Capacitor loses its capacity. Thermostat sticks. Replacing these as they fail brings the dryer back to normal for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

Fitting new Parmco parts is straightforward, the top or back panel comes off with a handful of screws. Always unplug the dryer at the wall. Wait a few minutes for the capacitor to drain before you touch it.

Signs You Need a New Parmco Dryer Part

  • Drum stops turning but the motor runs. Broken or stretched drive belt. Motor hums, drum sits still.

  • Clothes take hours to dry. Clogged lint filter, failing element, or a vent hose full of lint.

  • Motor hums without starting. Failed start capacitor. A 9uF capacitor is a common size on Parmco vented models (check against your model before you order).

  • Drum turns but no heat. Blown thermal fuse, dead element, or a stuck thermostat.

  • Dryer overheats and cuts out. Blocked vent, dirty lint filter, or a failed thermostat. Clean first, replace second. Less cycles are completing? Same thing.

  • Control panel dead or lights flashing. PCB fault. Sometimes caused by a power surge, replacement usually fixes it.

  • Burning smell when running. Lint built up on or near the element. Stop the dryer and clean it out before using again.

How to Find the Right Parmco Dryer Part

Parmco has a handful of different dryer models and parts change between them. The right part starts with the model number.

The model plate lives inside the door opening, or on the back panel. Parmco dryer models often start with PTF or PTD, followed by numbers and letters. Something like PTF7R or PTD7W.

Got the number? Search on our site. You can also full dryer belts range if you need a belt and your exact Parmco part isn't showing. A lot of common belt sizes cross between brands. No luck? Send us the model and a description of the fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which capacitor my Parmco dryer needs?

Read the markings on the old capacitor. It'll show microfarads (uF) and voltage (VAC). Match the numbers exactly. Can't read the old one? Send us your model number, we'll confirm the right size.

Can I replace a Parmco dryer belt myself?

Yes. Top or back panel off, old belt off the drum and motor pulley, new belt on, panel back. About 30 minutes. Unplug first.

My Parmco dryer won't heat. What do I check first?

Lint filter and vent hose. A blocked vent trips the thermal fuse and kills the heat. Both clear? Test the element with a multimeter next.

Do Parmco parts cross over with other brands?

Some do. Parmco sources parts from the same suppliers as other mid-range dryer brands. Capacitors and belts sometimes cross over. Always confirm with your model number before you order.

How fast will I get my Parmco part?

Same or next business day dispatch from our NZ warehouse. Most orders land in 1 to 3 working days. Ordered the wrong thing? Send it back unused within 30 days for a full refund.
